Peasant revolts were common before capitalism, it's not surprising they don't even mention them in common education. You don't want the proles to get any funny ideas

It also serves this silly narrative of human history never progressing except for modernity. The way most people learn history it seems that everything was the same for hundreds of years, then poof, new economic and political system sprung from nowhere and took over everywhere.

Yeah this is why for a long time I was never really interested in learning about history before the 18th century or so. I absorbed this attitude of "nothing really happened before the industrial revolution, everyone was primitive and stupid." Took reading The Origins Of The Modern World to cure me of that.

This is helpful when pushing the idea that because the Soviet Union/China/Cuba/etc didn't immediately achieve full communism, communism doesn't work.
