Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?

Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.

Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

The biggest cope from white people about why they don't season their food is cause "we enjoy the natural taste of it and don't need extra seasonings and condiments to hide it" omfg
Lmao... do they think the food they ate was godgiven? Not actively brought to their plate.
Also, if they enjoy the natural taste of it, why do they make shit like surstromming, hakarl, sauerkraut, and coleslaw, why not eat the fish as is, eat the shark fin as is, eat the cabbage as etc?
CW: meat and Mormons
One of my sisters went to her husband's family reunion. They're Mormon and so this was hosted in Utah. She said she cooked normal food like what she normally cooks but for large groups. So stuff like stew, salad, pasta, etc. It blew their minds. They couldn't believe what they were eating and stuff she made for the reunion was completely gone.
The food they were used to eating? That gross-ass shit you see in 1950s cookbooks. Like carrot bologna Jell-O cream cheese casserole. None of it was seasoned with anything other than salt and pepper. My sister said it was because the "recipes" were meant to feed 8 or more people because every family had more than 4 kids, so they used the cheapest ingredients for the largest quantities of food.
My sister's in-laws can't cook for shit, either. What we can't figure out is where they went wrong. Like my grandmother lived through the Depression with several siblings and she still knew how to cook. My mom had 4 other siblings herself, so just what in the Sam fuck is going on down in Utah?

It was stuff like that, especially boiled hotdogs mixed with things. There is something deeply wrong with the cracker palette to think anyone would want hollandaise sauce on bananas.
