That's not why they're blocking the UK.
The information commissioner's office found in an investigation that predates the OSA that they were selling users personal data and that some users were tagged as children (dediced from usage, not declaration) and were still sold. They said that if imgur didn't come up with a plan to exclude the users tagged as minors from sale, they would likely be liable for a fine. THAT'S when imgur blocked the UK. It's not actually the OSA that caused the fine, but imgur is happy for people to think it is because the OSA is unpopular.
But they were threatened with a fine for hoarding and selling children's browsing habits, though.

Also, separately, imgur deleted a bunch of images for the crime of not having a paid subscription. It's silly to use a company who are so clearly starting down the enshittification route. We should switch to others who aren't, or they will all follow imgur's enshittification.
You can upload images directly to your instance while you post. We don't need a corporate image host, we're on the fediverse.
It's wild to me that so many of us left reddit for Lemmy because we found out that we shouldn't trust corporations with our user generated entertainment, and then people go and make the same mistake with imgur while they're enshittifying. Just upload to your instance.
Personally, I left Reddit a long time before because of control freaks with no lives who feel the need to dictate their personal preferences to others as though it were a dire moral emergency.
