We're against larger nations annexing smaller nations, so we're trying to deepen our ties with Israel

Ok, given this, my sense is that the statement at the top is more to stay in the US's good graces than any sort of deep, genuine support of Israel over Palestine.
It's the DPP, they basically ARE the US. I doubt any of them have any actual independent thoughts on anything important not placed in their minds by the US Department of State.
