Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

context for those of us who don't know?

They consider themselves a leftist and vote for democrats. But because democrats have become so extreme recently, they voted republican "to bring the balance back to the middle". Then asked "how can you support leftist extremists".

I'm 99% sure it was a bit. Maybe 0.99% chance it was bait. Then 0.01% chance it was a question in good faith.

There was one reply in particular that sealed it as a bit for me. When asked to watch a short Second Thought video:

You can't expect to win people over with boring videos. You need to be practical.

Lmao I was reading the thread this morning with my coffee and thought it was great. Then some people starting answering seriously and I got confused and started to question everything.

Their other post is talking about how they consider theirself a leftist, but also the US Democratic party sometimes swings too far left for them. They ask lots of good questions including, "How do you expect to win the support of small business owners?"

If you want, you can still access it through their profile by clicking any of the comments they left on the now-removed post

They honestly sound like a made up person we'd create. Like a centrist but they want to join a polycule in Seattle so want to "seem" "left".
