As a cis guy I get called sir all the time and don't really like it because it makes me feel
Really telling on themself by complaining about never being called sir while still acknowledging the reciprical aspect of showing respect...
yeah, i have never been called sir except in a situation where it sucks and I'm being bent over by an institution, so some customer service manager is trying to soothe me by saying "sir" while i am being ripped off.
being called "sir" does shit for me. might as well call me "chevalier" or "caballero". people who insist on "sir" should be pulled down and stepped on.
I live in the south, and am old, so I get called "sir" all the time. If it's someone I have any connection with, like a junior coworker, I'll reply with "don't call me sir, I work for a living", but I feel like it would be too weird to do that to like grocery clerks.
