Wasn't that the communist side? Shouldn't the Nazis be Iess popular over there?

Is it because the communists handled them so badly that now people are soured on them or something? Or something else, stemming from more modern conditions?

It got hollowed out real bad with reunification, and having your state hollowed out is a decent predictor of reaction
