Eh, reading further down it seems at least possible that he was an Arab who could pass as white. But he also claimed, like, five different places of birth and ethnicities, so it's hard to really say. That picture makes him look white, but there are others on the page that make him look darker. Not trying to defend Nation of Islam or anything, just I'm not totally sold he was white.

There's plenty of old timey photoshop techniques too, people treat these things like they are impressions of real life. Not to mention that back in the 1900s there were plenty of ways to dehumanise lighter skinned people, beyond holding a color wheel up next to them.
