That's wishful thinking. We've seen time and time again that parents are (willfully) ignorant about their kids mental health issues and will look their other way while their precious sketching hallways and figures out the choke points.
You're responsible for the people your gun kills is a pretty simple fix and would probably lead to lots of people buying gun safes overnight.
Wait, that isn't a thing as of now?
