submitted 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) by hello_hello@hexbear.net to c/emoji@hexbear.net

Replace the current israel-cool with this image.

This concept image could also be refined and doesn't have to be submitted as is, if it really is needed, I can also erase the remnant of the blue star of david and just have the red triangle with the fire with the (also religiously significant blue bars so we are going to be called antisemites anyway no matter what).

note: If someone has a better, higher quality rendition of this image (and it's done in a libre image manipulation tool catgirl-hiss) then feel free to post it in the comments including if it's without the red downwards triangle since that should also be considered.

Also the padding on this image is wild (sorry GNU wilbur), it should most likely be resized to the proper dimensions when it goes through.

EDIT:

zionist-despair hamas-base free-palestine and others are all great emojis, but this one of indigenous Hawaiian Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole is deeply offensive to his legacy and is a mistake to even be included.

If this isn't accepted, IZ should still be removed from :israel:cool: (maybe even just renamed to something better like :stay-mad-iz:)

IZ should no longer be tied to the genocidal entity.

Letting micro aggressions go would be pretty cool for white people but ultimately it would be more useful for organizing if white people could stop tone policing non white people

Edit: https://hexbear.net/comment/6420256

My comment here goes into why I believe this is a micro aggression against Arabs, Muslims, and anyone directly impacted by zionism

While we're here, I'll paste my comment from the EM POC thread about the banned user:

See, so I did some digging around, and while it's 100% true that they do have a history of hostility, among their alts (or at least what I believe to be their alts, I'm not infallible here) it does appear like there was a clear instance of the same mod telling them to kill themselves and it wasn't addressed.

https://hexbear.net/comment/5311481

This was brought up to a mod who denied that the other mod was talking to the user, but IMO it seems pretty clear that the original message was addressed in the second person perspective.

Borderline cop behavior.

And also also while I'm here, here's a thread about this topic that I think was more productive than the one from last night, which mostly ended up with people talking past each others and mods wrongly banning people.

Yeah not into that, also wasn't into that mod recently mentioning being "good friends" with an anti vaxxer anarchist food not bombs founder in a different thread. I'm against having personal beefs with strangers online and find that most users here who I'm not a big fan of also have good comments and posts sometimes. Most of the time that mod seems fine but they and a lot of users here get into a very online "touch grass and/or kill yourself" pattern where they are simultaneously the biggest toucher of grass yet also extremely online and don't seem to catch the irony

[-] hello_hello@hexbear.net 19 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

The touching grass thing is also insulting because we explicitly don't want to reveal personal info here that could dox people (everything here has been combed through by LLM slop generators and feds more than once) so it's an unfalsifiable claim that no one can actually defend themselves against. parenti-hands

It's really obnoxious and unselfaware behavior tbh

Submit new emoji here.

A good submission is:

  1. Visually clear at a small size (120 pixel width) [This does not mean upload the small image, this means upload the source image or full size cutout but test prior.]
  2. Have a transparent background to the greatest degree possible. This online tool can remove many backgrounds.
  3. Display a clear emotion or purpose
  4. If including text, should be properly sized to be readable
  5. "Evergreen" and not something that will be irrelevant after the next news cycle
  6. Formatted in PNG, GIF, or SVG to make our file optimization cycles easier. If svg initially, send svg in a seperately hosted link to WhyEssEff. Same with gif, as we render them as mp4 IIRC.
  7. Have proposed title as the title of the post, nothing more, nothing less.
  8. Post body should include a suggested category and keywords.
  9. Max height of 3 times the width.

Rules:

  1. No reactionary or reactionary-adjacent expressions. The purpose of an image is what it expresses. Some clear examples for this rule:
    • Allowed: Broken fasces, burning stars-and-bars, rotated Mussolini
    • Disallowed: Body-shaming, Pepes, gay-shaming the enemy (e.g. those pictures of Putin and Trump that libs love to post), certain hateful wojaks (even if recontextualized)
    • If you think you have touched on a grey area, see rule 7 for how to litigate this.
  2. ~~Nothing Vaush-related is allowed~~
    • To be honest, I broke this rule, so it's pretty much moot. Just run it by me first in DMs or matrix. Vaush is a bit of a dead horse, so to speak, so they're still generally discouraged. The qualification for a viable emote referencing his existence is more a matter of execution -- @WhyEssEff
  3. No desecration of religious imagery.
    • This rule does not extend to the subordinate representations of religious symbolism present within the flags and/or iconography of nations, political parties, or militant groups.
  4. Nothing sexually explicit or overtly horny is allowed
    • :hentai-free:
  5. No sectarianism in submissions. Pro-tendency content is fine, but we will not accept content degrading specific tendencies.
  6. No gore, no SA, no sui-bait. Nothing that could reasonably trigger a comrade.
  7. If you think you're touching on a grey area with a submission, message @whyesseff:matrix.org to clear it before you post.
    • DISCLAIMER: Clearing does not necessarily mean that I'll add it, just that it's alright to submit and the rules will not be the barrier to its addition -- @WhyEssEff
  8. No content that breaks the Hexbear Code Of Conduct.
