A libertarian tried to pull the “given that people own themselves” as a natural starting point on me, and when i rejected the premise he seethed about it.
Basically, they were stating it was the natural state of man that he owns himself. I bluntly put it that “property ownership” is a state invention, ergo it’s illogical to say it’s inherent to man when it didn’t exist at the time man came to be. His response was to whine that I wasn’t abiding by the proper rules of intellectual discourse and that I obligated to accept his argument.
Akshually disagreeing with me is against the rules of intellectual discourse... apparently. I wish we could just say "given" a fact and they just have to go with it. "Given communism is the correct progression from our current capitalist systems..."
