Despite immense provocation including negotiators being burned alive by the "protesters" and a tank being stolen and fired, The PLA showed restraint unlike anything Western militaries have ever demonstrated.
Subsequently, a thinly sourced atrocity propaganda campaign was plastered across Western media.
This is why they openly discuss the event and all the nuances that lead up to it. After all, it would only be guilt and shame that could cause an entire nation, as a matter of procedure, to deny that the events that day ever took place.
