We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?
This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

YES YES YES! it is maddeningly frustrating to see this shit. The biggest doomers I have ever met weren’t people living in slums, victims of facist torture during the civil war, or even victims of genocide among the indigenous population. No the biggest doomers have been people living in wealthy NATO countries talking about how they’re powerless and the world is ending.
Even the Trump shit is kind of annoying. It’s like Americans want to live in a real dictatorship. I spent my early years living in one and still have ptsd issues from it. This doomer shit is unproductive and obnoxious. We may be getting hurt more by climate change and political/economic instability but at least we’re better prepared to weather the storm.
Handmaid's Tale is a prime example of the cracker brain. "Oh no! A fascist, theocratic dictatorship is going to force women to give birth and then steal the children!" and I'm like "Motherfucker that's already been done in the US to black and Native American women, complete with the religious aspect."
They're afraid of what Whitey has done to other people all over the world for centuries being done to other white people. Liberals are willfully ignorant about their country's history. Conservatives have a larger persecution fetish than liberals and want to LARP as the American Revolution so they can kill people they don't like.
Not to mention, places in the Imperial Core are all relatively safe. Americans are so easily startled by their own shadows. They act like they live in a place where people just disappear because they got nabbed by criminal organizations. Or where you can't walk outside at night because there's so many robberies and homicides. Very few places in the US are genuinely dangerous and they sure as shit aren't some suburb in Idaho. You should be more worried about alligators in Florida than violent crime.
Its a reactionary and misanthropic attitude. With the way they talk, you'd think capitalism reigned since time immemoriam, or that the cuban, russian, chinese, vietnamese, and haitian revolutions never happened in that span of time.
