I just had a thought. trump's "will they won't they" game does nothing to help israel and nothing to hurt Iran. All the analysts say that the tide favors Iran over time. Every moment delaying involvement the us is making israeli losses bigger. israel has specifically said they need help. Iran has said "bring it on we are ready." so stratigic ambiguity only hurts israel.
What this says to me is that regardless of america's plans for Iran they want israel's wings clipped.
It is either they want to clip Israels wings, and that is possible, or it could be American Hubris, there could be genuine thought that they could either force Iran to surrender without troops, or that it does not matter when the US joins the US can win, so it does not hurt to play this game.
Or it could be the US knows its a paper tiger and does not know what they can do to not show it.
Let's also not forget that even in the GOP there is a split on if we should go to war, with Carlson and Greene being on the no war no way, and hanity and huckaby on the we must bomb Iran. so I am sure that this is also stalling for the 2 sides to duke it out
The only reason I do is because the wing that is anti-war is also the more anti-jewish side, and I could see them not wanting to defend a "jewish" country.
Tucker is an intelligence asset. Whatever he's saying should be understood through that lens. There's an agenda behind this "opposition". One angle could be that the state needs a narrative angle to back down if it turns out that they indeed do not have the strategic advantage required to attack. Another angle might be that these are sheepdogs gathering the right-wing population to them and when the bombs drop the sheepdogs will turn the narrative towards "we have to support dear leader in times of war" because there needs to be some influence over the militia movement and lone wolves that might break rank over this.
I'm sure I haven't figured out the angle yet, but my gut tells me that Tucker and MTG breaking with Trump and Cruz is orchestrated.
I could easily see that being the case. And that sounds far more consistant with the America I know than sudenly a large amount of the ruling class deciding to not back Israel.
Or it's a rope-a-dope. Every time Iran uses a new missile, the US gains intelligence. Every time Iran is forced to defend against a particular attack from Israel, the US gains intelligence. Every time Iran communicates with another group, receives or delivers materiel, or changes the configuration of their fortifications, the US gains intelligence.
So Israel may be getting sacrificed not because the US wants to hurt Israel but because Iran must have a target for the US to gain intelligence on Iranian capabilities.
I think it would have been a lot easier, to just be like 'hey, they started a war with Iran. I would never do that by the way. But we wish them well, dont we folks? We'll see, but we're hoping they do well'
It looks a lot more like someone climing the the highest diving board and pissing themselves when they get to the top
I could see the US having pushed for this thinking they where hot shit, and then realising that maybe they are not so awsome and a war might have some consiquences for them. Especialy given how they tried to back track after they greenlit this war

I don't believe that theater for even a little bit
