I don't think he's particularly wealthy, but from what I've read she's got equally horrible opinions.

I consider a million dollars to be wealthy.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

That's bare minimum retirement money, bare minimum. $1M ain't even rich, let alone wealthy.

Having $1 million means you're wealthier than 95% of the world's population.

Having $1 million means you're wealthier than 95% of the world's population. Also it's "What I consider" to be wealthy.

What a stupid way to measure things. The CoL in Zimbabwe doesn't affect how easily you are able to live off your savings in the US.

You're trying to debate what I consider wealthy with me? I think I'm much closer to knowing my opinion than you are.

But also; $1 million dollars is wealthier than 95% of the planet. So yeah, it's wealthy. In the top 5% if not higher.

You can't make direct comparisons like that countries vary greatly on cost of living and other factors.

A million ain't shit if you're living in NYC or Seattle or London...

Most of Asia? You're filthy rich.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I can. I'm doing it. It's my consideration.

If I had 1 mil today, I'd never work again. And I'm not young but I'm not that old either. These people think they need to live in NYC and have to buy a Ferrari and eat caviar daily.

1mil and I'd be done, and very comfortable. These people are crazy.

You're living comfortably off less than 40k a year (the most you can sustainably withdraw without risking the principle)?

If so, good for you.for figuring that out. If not, it's time to figure out how far money actually goes.
