Not as interesting as the headline promises.
I disagree. I think it's a well written article that's a good read, but also demonstrates how big-brain-mathematicians can behave like petulant children.
Except that it’s not “only true in Japan.” Most mathematicians agree that there’s an unresolved flaw. Some mathematicians, largely in Japan, disagree.
That is wholly different from “only true in Japan.”
That becomes clear from reading the article, yes. Your point?

Everyone who knows the basics of math will know better than to take that headline literally. So quit bitching.
