My split second thought was that a doctor was being shot across the country at 500 miles per hour to do like... 5 operations at five different hospitals in a single day or something.

Mao was upset that doctors couldn't travel to all the rural areas they needed to in time, so he organised the barefoot doctors program as a "good enough" solution. But what if he could just launch doctors across the country to wherever they're needed? thonk
