Despite the bit of horseshoe theory, I like the way he describes how these fascist ideas take hold.

All it takes is for someone to be disappointed in something, and there are plenty of things to be disappointed about in capitalism, and to be politically and historically uneducated. When there's no mental resistance to that propaganda, it's as easy as seeing the same meme multiple times for someone to associate a thing they hate with something completely irrelevant, while ignoring the real systemic reasons that lead to that disappointment. After that it's a slippery slope, dog whistles lead to actual ideology, and the ideology eventually leads to real life action as well. And in the end, some person will have been completely ruined because they disliked a stupid fucking videogame and couldn't notice the real reasons.
