The lack of a plot in the game leaves a lot of creative room for the film and the deep lore gives them a lot to work with.

But also adds more chance of the movie to fuck up the lore for the sake of the movie's plot.

It could absolutely be a dumpster fire but I trust a24 to not fuck it up. They have a great track record and I think the whole minimalist storytelling thing is right in their wheelhouse. Time will tell though.
