You're right, he has been explicit. It's a weird time to bring it up again though, right? Like he still has a lot of time. There's plenty of terrible news flooding the media. Maybe he thinks he needs four years of normalizing this idea to make it happen? Or maybe he thinks he will embolden his base by giving them a meme hat to try to bully everyone who keeps pointing out that they're terrible people?
Edit: also is it weird for a president to have a brand store? I mean, I know Trump always has, hence why this wasn't the first piece of weirdness that occurred to me. But it IS weird, right?
Carter couldn't keep his farm but Trump? Oh he can sell merchandise!
Not too weird considering he held his first rally for reelection less than a month after taking office in 2017.
