The capitalists want peoples to have more children so that the reserve army of labor stays large enough to guaranty they will always have peoples desperate enough to work for almost nothing in case their current workers strike.

But obviously they don't want to spend money and resources to make having a child affordable for most peoples so instead they try to force peoples who wouldn't have had one under less crypto-fash circumstances in situations that will force them to have one anyway.

Same reason they dislike abortion so much.

It's actually an interesting extension of Plato's 'Laws', where in all sexual activity is supposed to be suppressed for the lower classes in order to stimulate their work ethic, but the wealthy can do as they please. Despite the fact that we create their wealth, our reproduction is a privilege, theirs is a right.

Plato was like the first dude-bro fascist as far as I am concerned, it is incredible how that gets glossed over in philosophy.

Yeah reading Plato's republic, where he writes about the need for military culture and people being born with certain souls which sort them into a hierarchy was insane. It's so strange for him to be one of the most known philosophers, yet his actual philosophy is so proto-fascist and no one ever mentions that.

I definitely impress on my students that Plato was a goddamn fascist whenever I teach his stuff.

Liberal philosophy in a nutshell.
