Anarchism is a social movement that seeks liberation from oppressive systems of control including but not limited to the state, capitalism, racism, sexism, speciesism, and religion. Anarchists advocate a self-managed, classless, stateless society without borders, bosses, or rulers where everyone takes collective responsibility for the health and prosperity of themselves and the environment.

Valeriano Orobón Fernández, born on this day in 1901, was a Spanish anarcho-syndicalist theoretician, trade union activist, translator, and poet who wrote the lyrics of the revolutionary song "A Las Barricadas".

Orobón believed in the organizational power of unions, believe that they would have a major role in reorganizing society in a more libertarian fashion. Orobón was also strongly opposed to the communist (i.e., Soviet) ideas in Spain during the Spanish Civil War.

Shortly before his untimely death from tuberculosis, Orobón wrote the words of "A Las Barricadas" to the tune of "Warszawianka 1905 roku", itself a well-known Polish revolutionary song. The anti-fascist tune became the anthem of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT), and one of the most popular songs of the Spanish anarchists during the Civil War.

Dumb question but I kind of want to better understand liberals, what’s everyone’s theories on why the far-right politicians are given a lot of attention in the “liberal” or “centre-left” media? Here on Hexbear we deal with fascists in a simple and very effective way: ban them with very little word and either respond with “post hog” or PPB, nothing they can really work with.

(mostly useless observances I’ve made)

They knew how to deal with Corbyn by simply not talking about him so people had to go out of their way and google, and BBC tacitly endorsed Boris Johnson over Corbyn anyways when they did have to talk about him (even at one point calling the Tories ‘we’.).

However, they clearly don’t like Trump or Farage (who are an active threat to them), but constantly report on how they’re all big fat meanie heads and how they’re so scared of them in a naked display of journalistic malpractice and makes them stronger and more legit. Don’t feed the troll and all.

So wouldn’t it help THEIR candidates if they just kept Harris or Clinton on the centre stage? IIRC The people’s party in Canada is still borderline irrelevant and most Canadian hogs are perfectly happy with the conservatives and I don’t think the media discusses how Maxine Bernier is a big scary meanie-head! The only explanation I have is that these liberal parties are really just meant to be occasionally given figurehead power so they can take the fall whenever more right-wing parties come up, but if that’s the case you’d see a lot less effort on their part.

I think they're in a contradictory position of being state propaganda but also being private for profit entertainment. It'd be in their best interest long term to deplatform Trump, but Trump derangement syndrome is reliable for getting eyes on pages.
