Could be that the magnesium gave you back the energy that chronic stress had depleted in you, and with that energy, you were able to express what's actually happening in your body, and maybe you've been sitting on this sadness for a while and the stress has been a distraction. Sadness and crying don't need to be avoided.

Yes, all my emotions coming rushing to the forefront. I am... depressed, or lately have been, and may be getting out of my depression. There's hope, but alas, I don't know if I've fully dealt with my problems.
I've been on this road for a very long time. It does get better.
Be kind to yourself, and surround yourself with people working towards common goals and who want the best for you.
