Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
😇 Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
🏘️ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
🧬 Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
📋 Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/

📬 Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.

🏴☠️ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

🍿 Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I genuinely don't get it
Leo has a thing about dating women of a certain age IRL. To a hilarious degree. Nearly every one of his openly admitted girlfriends were dropped at the same age, where shortly after, he would find a younger woman to date and start the cycle anew.
I think 27 was chosen specifically too. 26 would have been a tighter upper bound.
ps: just noticed a different version was posted below before, sorry for the repeat
I love this graph because of how succinctly it summarizes info. But I also hate this graph because it is missing like 10 or 15 other women he has dated of several ages that break the neat pattern. Also, it hides how only like two of those relationships were truly serious, the rest are gossip and tabloid speculation from having seen him “next to them”. It is all very speculative. He does have a weird thing for younger women, but I think that part of it is that most single women on his social circle are going to be aspiring and upcoming super models.
Oh no, I have been a part of disinfographics propagation. Thanks for the correction. It seems some of the older women (31, Laura Whitman for instance) were not a confirmed long term relationship but there are some rumors that DiCaprio romantically pursued them.
He famously doesn't date women who are older than 25. Someone on reddit made a great infographic if you want to google it.
Is it just coincidence, or is he a bit of a weirdo?
Really? He's dated a lot of women, none over 25, that's not a coincidence. He's 50 years old BTW.
Here's the infographic, from 2022:
I was wondering why each year he was dating a girl that was 1 year older than the last year
Because he's a gentleman.
I was asking if it’s a coincidence he keeps breaking up with them at a certain age like a weirdo, or if the relationships just always go poorly anyway.
Allow me to help give context. This is Leonardo DiCaprio we're talking about, a very famous movie star. This man can afford to have eccentric personal relationship rules. These women, while much younger, are still adults who can make informed decisions about their own lives. It's even easier to grasp when you realize this just means they know the relationship has a predetermined max limit.
Thi2nk of it like a summer fling. Someone comes into town, just for the summer. You really hit it off and both of you want to spend more time with the other. But you both know at the end of Summer, they're leaving town again. Would you still be willing to enjoy that time together?
It's kind of like that, except the other person is Leonardo fucking DiCaprio, and they're leaving town because they're rich celebrities who can do whatever they want.
So yeah, it's definitely fuckin weird, but that doesn't exactly make it bad. Those are independent variables.
Reminds me when people were shit talking Melania Trump for being obviously much younger and hotter than Dried Turnip. She shut them up because no shit, shes hot, he's affluent, it's win win. Relationships are social contracts, not Disney fairy tales.
For us poors, they can be fairy tales
But definitely not the Disney variety
He’s probably a bit screwed in the head from having the fame from a young age, seems unsurprising tbh
Access to money and it's trappings is usually the reason young women date old guys. The golddigger cliche. People will put up with a lot for the right price
DiCaprio has a ton of power and draw in the biz. Chalamet is a starting star. Sure is younger, more attractive and also a great actor, but still doesn't have the money and influence that DiCaprio possess.
Nice try Timothée Hal Chalamet.
I think he's gay, and these women are hired to be his beards. Part of the deal for them is that they get exposure, and also a chance to rub elbows with the Hollywood elite. All of which would be a lot more enticing to someone just starting out in life and their career.
That would make too much sense. Plausible.
Probably just likes younger women
It could also be that they still aren't that emotionally mature and when they turn 25 they realize what a weird situation they are in and thus leave him. I do think it has to be a mutual agreement. It's too tight to be a coincide and thus far Leo has never been in any scandal or negative comments about the relationships and he is still friends with a lot of them. So, it's weird, but not in a “creep abuser” kind of weird. I just think he is emotionally stunted from so much fame and power from an early age. It fucks up social development.
