5 days left until the big day. Now that I have a choice, I don't think I'm going to celebrate. I was considering buying a roast or a ham and doing something with it, but I don't think I'm really even interested in that. It doesn't really make me sad or anything, but it doesn't bring me joy, so it just seems like a waste of time thing that I do to make other people happy
New Year's I've decided I'll stay home. My entire life I wanted to see fireworks, but pre 2019 was complicated by loving in the country. 2019 I was too young, 2020 they replaced it with a "3 day food and wine tasting festival", 2021 I got COVID and was too sick to go, 2022 and 2023 I finally saw them! But repetitive now I reckon. I'll probably watch them on tv and might order in a midnight kebab or something for the same vibe
Mate you don't have to do anything if you don't want to, but be kind to yourself. You've had a big year and done more adulting than most people do in their entire lives.
I don't like speaking on behalf of others but I will this time. We are all so very proud of you. Treat yourself to something nice. Make that a new tradition. Much love π
Thanks
when I lived alone I would go to so many parties before xmas but on xmas day it was a just a quiet day. I liked the non stress I had not having the drama of dysfunctional family.
Can I add, running your own household and having your own chosen relationships is a bajillion times easier than putting up with other people making lousy choices and having a dysfunctional family. You've done the hard part already. So many hugs. πππ
You should do something small for you. Start a new tradition. If thats as simple as "eat a toasty and play video games all day" then thats awesome. As far as new years: yeah you see TONS more on TV than going into the city. The city sucks, and new years is even worse.
I haven't actually gone into the city for fireworks before. Too busy and hectic for me. I have however gone into the city around 2am or 10pm to laugh at how everything is falling to pieces, though. 2022 was at St. Kilda, but I didn't realize I couldn't see the city fireworks from there (but someone set some off on the beach so it was all good). 2023 was at Williamstown Beach which was alright although when drunk people started screaming and people started setting off fireworks into the audience I decided it was time to bail
Go full ham.
not a bad idea to buy a big ham, then it's eggs and home cut fried ham steaks for lunches for the next few weeks. Quiches, salads, with pasta, sandwiches . yum, I haven't done this for years, maybe I should again π
Weβre doing ham/turkey/prawns/oysters etc..this year. The broom rider is bringing the ham.
Cool. π
How bout you?
Can I get a small ham? I don't want to spend 4 hours cooking (or $50 on a giant piece of meat)
You could get some deli slices, that way you could test out all the flavours without commitment. Fuck cooking the thing.
We must be related, that's pretty much my entire motto π
I try to live a hassle free life. I don't make more work for myself.
