A Community to talk about Music from the Australian perspective.

Telling stories of Australia through music.

With few exceptions, Australian acts are permitted to have one hit in the US charts, then fall out of the international limelight.

Those acts however often have lots of other cool songs!

There are also several Australian acts that just aren't famous globally.

Yeah. It's all subjective, but I feel like 2019 is when I kinda aged in. There's definitely a shift. I can see another one around 2011/2012 where it seems to have shifted away from the emo vibe. I can't really put my finger on what changed in 2019, but it does seem a little more poppy/commercial

A little is an understatement

Doesn't necessarily mean it's bad!

It is not for me. I'm sure it's just that I'm old now but the words generic, repetitive and homogenous come to mind for everything I've heard on there every time I've tuned in recently.

haha I wouldnt call it Emo, Deffo would call it Indie! Was 2019 the year Billie Eilish won it? Then Dojacat? thats what really killed it for me.

Most of it always gives me kind of emo "I hate the world!" dyed hair, obsessed with fire and knives vibes. Very 2000s
