Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

Hi there,

I've been lurking for almost a year, but I finally got the courage to get an account and start posting! I have to remember that I can reply to people now.

Anyway, how's your day?

Thanks!

I don't know how to use any of the emotes, is there a guide or reference to look at them?

There's an emoji picker when you go to send a message with a built in search function. For example, search "catgirl" for the catgirls. It might take some time to load.

Then there's the shortcodes, which is more just memory. You can use them instead of the picker, but I usually just use the picker unless I'm on Jerboa (android client). Since Jerboa doesn't have the emoji picker, shortcodes are the only option. For example, if I wanted to use the heart catgirl, I would type ":catgirl-heart:" (without the quotation marks).
