I'm pretty sure they were being sarcastic. I've definitely heard of the movie. I just haven't seen it (and won't since it's apparently a musical).

David Bowie and Muppets don't really mean anything to me, and I can rarely tolerate a musical.
I don't like musicals but this film is amazing, truly one of a kind. Absolutely worth watching!
I honestly never realized it's a musical. I knew there was music but it never felt like a musical to me.
Is that movie not burned into everyone's childhood? David Bowie dancing around. Dance baby, dance. If you are in your 20s, you probably don't know about it.
