It would be so hilarious if the first time that the House of Representatives had to decide the president in case of a tie is for Trump.

imagine if Trump is chosen as president by the house and Kamala is chosen as vice president by the senate. Or vice versa.

This used to be how the Vice President was chosen. The loser of the presidential election automatically became the other's vice president. This was changed for... obvious reason.

nah nah ur not understanding me. When there is a tie the house chooses the prez and the senate chooses the VP. So if the house and senate are controlled by different parties ur gonna get a prez and vp from different parties. I'm not talking about the loser becoming VP im talking about during a tie.

it would be Walz not Harris, they still have to chose from the people in the slate running for that postion, so you would get a trump walz

Oh they cant just pick anyone?

no it has to be from the top 3 candidates from the electoral collage choice.

also the house cannot vote as individual members but as each state, so you have to redo your house math anyway (it is still red right now)

In that case the funniest outcome is probably Trump/Walz cuz theyd hate eachother and i feel like harris and jd would get along.

They had to in the election of Thomas Jefferson over Aaron Burr.

I thought that eventually enough electors switched sides after several votes and horse trading instead of defferring to the House. Though I haven't checked.

No it was the house and it was deadlocked there too for a really long time.
