I welcome revolutionary optimism and I don't disagree with your point for the most part.

I didn't say that revolution was impossible, only that I was afraid and that current events have been discouraging.

While you may (fairly, for the most part) condemn fear-driven pessimism, idle speculative optimism driven by ignorance or even arrogance isn't great either. You're not doing that, to clarify.

Also, to clarify, by "fairweather leftist" I mean one that may say the talking points but instantly gets reactionary if their own material comfort may be affected, or even criticized. I'm talking petty shit like wishing a violent death on someone because they brought up the abusive conditions that workers went through to make a video game. I highly doubt they'd be stalwart or even trustworthy if they thought, say, the Mortal Kombat brand might not exist after a revolution, or if maybe they'd lose access to Baconators.
