Soooo what are we looking at?
Looks similar to a Sony PVM-8045Q, so a nice portable crt.
Right you are; this one's a PVM-8043MD. Looks like it lacks the 16:9 mode, manual degauss and tally light. I believe MD signifies "medical"; removed the cover and there is some shielding around the deflection yoke.
Thank you for mentioning that model number. That page has some good troubleshooting info relevant to the white balance problem I'm seeing with this one. Will post something nice if I can fix it!

I see a Sony label so...maybe a PS1 dev kit?
Edit: right after I posted I looked it up: nope. Those were black colored PS1s. Abandoned SONY/NINTENDO dev kit?
Pretty sure it's a closed loop surveillance CRT TV used in security rooms of yesteryear. You can even see a small handle at the front meant to fit inside a rack for an array of them.
