I picked up this old Star wars book from the late 70s, it's a kid's book about space.
There's a page where C3PO points out that humans will have habitable space cities on the moon and Mars by the year 2000!
I still get a kick out of that, and how hopeful yet unrealistic we are when looking at the future
When I was around six, so around 1998-1999 I got an Encyclopedia of tech and science and that talked about moonbases too.
