Has anyone noticed as you've gotten older being less tolerant to greasy and salty food? Like I love fish and chips but I slept like shit last night. Same thing happens with excessively salty pizza.

Back when I was young I could inhale such foods without a second thought.

Very much so. Also less tolerant of excessive sugar too. Will make an exception for anchovies on pizza though. The grease I used to eat I couldn't now. Still OK with butter and olive oil.

Trick is to nibble on the grease. Nothing extreme, just a little grease nibble.

Build up the tolerance again.

I've noticed a lot more sugar in foods as I've gotten older.

Only milk products, it's the lactose, it happened after I caught a mild gastro a few years ago . Otherwise I'm fine.

Yep. Pizza for dinner means I wake at 3am with the thirst of 100 days in the desert.

Omg isn't it awful?

Some days yes.

I take Pantoprazole for reflux and indigestion.

I feel like fatty food makes me sluggish and lazy feeling almost immediately.

Last time I had KFC which was ages ago after not having it for quite awhile made me feel a bit icky.

There’s so much grease in those things that even I felt it.

Hate to see what would happen if I tried it now.

KFC is regrettable. You don't eat it for ages, then you eat it and remember why you don't.

I was saying this only last week. Even eating out has a lot more salt than I cook with usually, and I pay for it with the dry horrors all night into the next day.

I can't remember the last time I went to w restaurant for dinner tbh! Sign of the times.

Restaurant is a generous term for Okami and the local brisket place!

I have less tolerance for vegetable/seed oil, but still load stuff up with butter and salt, and love fatty meats

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I seem to be ok with butter too. But excess salt fucks me up.

Do it anyway, the self-hatred survives off abusing ones body. Fuel it. Fuel it.
