A few takeaways from this:

The fact that they’re spinning him as the most progressive of the shortlist/to the left of Kamala indicates the Dems are seeing shoring up the base/disaffected progressives as a higher priority than chasing “moderate” conservatives.
Particularly, him being one of the more vocal critics among electeds against the police after the murder of George Floyd is definitely an attempt to soften the Kopmala image.
However, he believes in pay-as-you-go and caved to Uber and Lyft in vetoing a bill that would’ve increased rideshare driver’s wages so no mistaking this guy for even center-left.

And this is still the best they can offer; and I bet I'll still meet a dozen peckerwoods that think they can cudgel a blue vote out of me like-- even if the slavemaster DNC keeps Claudia off the ballots in my state, that probably just means I'm staying home
