The place I'm staying at has Alexa whatever things all over the house. I have given in and used them for timers and alarm clocks so I can reduce use of my phone especially first thing in the morning. It helps that I have to actually use my voice if I want to silence the alarm. So of course I blearily told it to stop for 3 separate alarms this morning - 7, 7:15 and 7:30.

Eventually woke up at 8ish and asked it what the time was and it said "The time is 8:05 am. Happy Friday! 😇 "

Is it possible to ask Alexa to be more of a curmudgeonly bitch?

People that say 'happy Friday' should be given 50 lashes in the public square.

People that say 'happy ****day' for any other of the week, should be removed from society via catapult or trebuchet

I'll be there with you! I'm so annoyingly chirpy sometimes, even to myself.

The contrary side of me is really tempted to update the bot to put a "happy ****day" message in the DT post 🤣

What is the appropriate punishment for using "FriYay!!"?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

I can't say, but it will involve a rubber hose

I think the only exceptions are happy birthday/easter/mother's day/father's day. That's it. People shouldn't over complicate things.

Special occasions are fine. They're special. Regular days aren't and so shall they remain.

On my god, if only I could action out this punishment to people at work!

I literally bought an Amazon Echo after I saw this video a couple of years ago https://youtu.be/96BAgh0jmSE

It sits in a drawer now though sadly coz I'm a google home user.

That was fucking hilarious, thank you 😂 I guess I better start getting creative

There are so many things you can do it with! I should warn you though.. all of the things you ask it get logged and the owner of the devices can see a list of what you've said to it in their Alexa app. I can't remember if it actually saves the audio of you asking or not too.
