You mean, "oh shit a politics guy whose actually studied the region". But that's okay I get why you're confused.

Especially with the Soviet connection. Israel maintained it was not aligned and received aid from both great powers until the Korean War in which it supported the UN and the US. After which it steadily moved further into the American sphere of influence. So there was one war before it became aligned and it received aid from both countries during that war. Turns out the Russians didn't like the idea of Pan Arabism anymore than the Americans.

And I'm not cheering for anyone. I'm just wishing you good luck without an external source of supply.
