The problem with this way of thinking is if you have a problem with halal slaughter then you have a problem with the entire meat industry. Why single out one specific method of animal suffering and ignore everything else?
Animal suffering is animal suffering you either are ok with it or not there's no middle ground pick and choose what kinds of suffering you're ok with
You can say that having meat is more important to you than animals not suffering but you would still prefer to minimise that suffering where possible.
Not killing an animal in the first place seems like the most effective way of minimizing egregious pain and suffering within practicality to me
