I mean, from the description in this article it sounds like he did rails of K, went into the hot tub, and more than likely K-holed and drowned.

It's not exactly farfetched. A k-hole is basically just falling asleep somewhat-maybe awake. Slipping under the water and not being able to react is entirely within reason.
