I am afraid to open Krita in public because its mascot Kiki (the robot squirrel girl) is drawn dangerously close to upskirt in the splashscreen.
GIMP's is just mushrooms, nothing objectionable.

Her look varies by artist. She is usually whiter and not as apparently robotic. There is a reference design but it's not really official. More info
