F.C. Arsenal fans are called Gooners for some reason.

It's an amalgamation of gunners and the goon squad. The club's crest was a cannon and the original people involved used to make ammunition, so gunners. The goon squad was one of the largest firms of Arsenal fans/hooligans. Thus gunners+goon = gooners.
