The entire crew is excited to see the newest addition to Bortus & Klyden's family - a rare Moclan female. Without warning, Bortus demands that Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Jerald Johnson) perform a sex change operation to convert his newborn to male. After Bortus' demands are rebuffed by Dr. Finn and Captain Mercer, a Moclan cruiser is called to take the child away to Moclus. However, Bortus has a sudden change of heart and the crew of the Orville steps in to defend the child's rights in a court that views being female as a birth defect.

I guess it doesn't have to be Bortus, but he's just got so many great ones all delivered with fine precision by Peter Macon.

She’s already wrapped S2 of Ted, and clearly she likes working with Seth, so since Lysella stayed on board in the end, wouldn’t it be awesome if she became a recurring character or even a cast member?

In preparation for the forthcoming season of The Orville, c/theorville is having a rewatch party and you are invited! Yes, you can have beverages on the bridge as long as you keep it below the equipment and don't spill any.

Every Sunday, I will make an announcement post for each episode starting with the pilot episode, and continuing until the end of season 3. There should be enough time to go through the existing series before the premier of season 4.

Happy Arbor Day. Or as the kids say, You got wood!

The Orville season 1, episode 1 "Old Wounds"

Written by Seth MacFarlane, directed by Jon Favreau.

After a long wait, Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) is finally promoted to Captain and given command of his own ship; The USS Orville. Things are finally looking up for him until he learns that his new XO is actually his ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki). To make matters worse, his first mission puts The Orville and its untested crew up against a Krill plot to steal and weaponize an experimental piece of Union technology.

This community was created a long time ago, back when it was unknown if The Orville would be renewed after its purchase by Disney during the 20th Century Fox buyout. It has been posted to a few times, but has otherwise lay dormant. What's interesting is the number of the subscribers for a community that is effectively dead - I believe there are a lot of people that want it to be active. Now that The Orville has started filming it's fourth season (the first under Disney's banner), I have assumed control of this community from its long-gone creator in the hopes it can be revived.

This community is for anything related to The Orville, the people producing and starring in it, any news, discussion, or memes. Just follow instance rules and be civil. We are not opposed to Star Trek (old or new), we are allies of Trekkies and every other scifi fandom. That being said, be on the look out for clowns and try not to step in Yaphit.

After the pilot episode I was willing to watch another episode, but I was still a little on the fence about it.

But when Alara realised she was in command, and the Captain and First Officer were gone, she didn't take it in her stride, and she didn't just go "okay".

spoilerShe went and got a shot of whiskey, and then threw up.

It was at that point I realised that this was how Star Trek would be if the crew were real people, and not Action Figures.

And it was at the point I knew I wanted to watch the rest of the first series because it was going to be good :)
