You’d need to put the Xfinity Gateway into Bridge Mode, then it will just act as a modem allowing you to connect your own 3rd Party Router with customizable DNS etc.

You may want to consider the Hitron CODA-56 over the Arris S33 as the Hitron is one of the few that is currently certified to provide higher upload speeds in areas where Xfinity has completed their mid-split upgrade.
