Mine died literally 1 week ago, and I've been trying to figure out what to do ever since. I used it for basic notifications (SMS/Calls), my morning alarm, and for calendar/medication reminders. I'd already decided I wouldn't get another fitbit, but having it was central to my routines. I'm tossing up between an Amazfit which seems to be based in NL which would be a plus (in addition to Gadgetbridge support), but I've also just been given an (older) iPhone, so a refurbished Apple Watch has some appeal. It comes at the same time my S10+ has decided to slowly grow a spicy pillow, and as much as I would like to get a 2nd hand Pixel(for Graphene), I just don't have money for one. I'm not a huge Apple fan, but I dislike them less than I dislike Google at this point.

I haven’t been able to afford new hardware for a few years, even secondhand has gone up in price. There was a brief blip where recent PCs that couldn’t support Win11 dropped in price (on the second hand market), but it seems like those have gone up too as sellers realised people don’t want to use Win 11, or don’t care about it.

I’m in NZ, we are 2 working adults with 2 kids in daycare, living in a tiny 2 bedroom place. We cook everything from scratch, rice/beans/lentils/potatoes/etc. We scrape by, but we’re one accident away from destitute. We can’t downsize any more, it’s a lot harder out there for some than many realise

I do think New Zealand’s emphasis on primary industries is shortsighted, but it seems it’s always been that way. Any business in other sectors that gets big enough ends up moving headquarters overseas. And I think NZ is losing ground as certain markets move towards fewer Ag focused food products like meat alternatives. NZ has a lot of expertise in the food technology but it gets lost overseas because opportunities for bleeding edge food science are basically non existent in NZ unless you want to go into the Agricultural sector

Just like the box of screws my great grand father passed down to my grand father, then to my father and finally to me. This multigenerational collection of screws from goodness knows where will keep growing until I bestow it on the heir to my estate.

As a father of two under 3, I feel this on the daily. But I find it's only really a problem if I'm sleep deprived or otherwise already worn out but something else. I've heard adults throw worse tantrums and scream-cry worse than any toddler

I would love to switch to LibreOffice (or similar) but I haven’t been able to find a way to get tables to work in the same way they do in Excel, and that’s a deal breaker for me. None of the suggested approaches come close to being able to select a range, press ctrl+t and immediately be able to filter/sort/lookup using column names from anywhere in the document. I use that feature dozens of times a day, and so does everyone in my circles that deals with financial data.
