just installed and looking at it!

[-] rubenstorm@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

The start is a long story. But I was not happy with the alternative. So I started.

Some sit on the fireplace and others move on. I moved on. You can read about it on my homepage or on my blog. Both links you find in my profile.

At the moment I move away from Facebook and co. In the future I will share Photos and stories of my travels in the Fediverse. You can find My users like Pixelfed, Friendica and Mastodon also in My profile.

Enjoy reading the story behind the face people see

I just installed Connect from Google play. Is it FOSS? I didn't find it on f-droid.

[-] rubenstorm@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

I want FOSS and I want apps without adds. Thank you for your comment.

[-] rubenstorm@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

If you have it FOSS the community can check it and you gain more trust.

Summit is in my closer circle of apps am looking at maybe using. Why don't you put it on f-droid as play store alternative?

[-] rubenstorm@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

Yes, I like them all what I just test... This I write from Voyager

[-] rubenstorm@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I am testing the following Lemmy Clients, and I don't know yet what is the best for me.

  • Summit
  • Blorp
  • Jerboa
  • Thunder

I do need your help to decide. Summit I didn't find it in f-droid, I installed it from the play store. Is Summit open source?

What instance? (lemmy.world)

What's a good instance for Peertube to register and use?

Important is that it has lot of storage and then the other stuff you need.

What peertube client you use?

Friendica Client (lemmy.world)

Travelers (lemmy.world)

SpoilerA simple truth about why people travel…!

People travel for two reasons:

  • They’re searching for something.
  • They’re running from something.

Which one are you? ✈️

I am checking out Fedilab as a client. On Composing a post it say at the character 0 and counts up as I write. Is there a possibility to show max character and count down as I write?

If there is a setting, where to find it?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Stepping Into Lemmy (thelemmy.club)
submitted 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) by rubenstorm@lemmy.world to c/howdy@lemmy.blahaj.zone

👋 Hello Lemmy!

Hey everyone,

I’m Ruben 👋
Blogger, traveler, and someone who kicked Reddit a while ago — and I’m genuinely happy to see that a decentralized alternative like Lemmy exists.

After almost 9 years of traveling and living a nomadic life, I’m now doing a similar move online:
➡️ leaving centralized big tech behind
➡️ moving deeper into decentralized networks

I’m interested in:

  • 🌐 The Fediverse (Mastodon, Lemmy, Friendica & friends)
  • 🧵 Nostr
  • ✍️ Blogging & writing about daily life, tech, and observations
  • 🚶 Nomadic life, travel, and cafés as workspaces
  • 🧠 Open source, decentralization, and digital freedom
  • ☕ Coffee (non-negotiable)

I’m here to read, learn, and take part in constructive discussions.
Curiosity over outrage, sharing over shouting.

Happy to be here — see you around! 👋

Freedom is a lifestyle, not a destination.
