Good. We need to protect our kids from this anti-LGBTQ garbage. The premiere stands on the wrong side though, even if he were to pay lip service.

How does Unity track my installs?

All they'll say is what amounts to "just trust us, it's fiiiine"

[-] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago

Ya, never trust US companies. Their government's crazy to jump in and take anything they want; you may not even know they took it.

Break them up if they wanna raise their rates. Maybe we can't just switch people back to Shaw at this point, but we can divide Rogers Internet from Rogers Cable and Rogers Mobile.

Paying $80 to ensure people paid for other things? This is silly.

Some excerpts

The town’s previous mayor, Haywood “Woody” Stokes III, had failed to file the necessary qualifying paperwork to run for the town’s top office. No citizens had filed to run for town council, either. Braxton, though, had taken great lengths to qualify. So without opposition, he assumed the office of mayor and, as had been the practice for years, appointed members of the town’s council — the first time Newbern had been represented by a body that reflected its majority-Black population.

Then the cogs of conspiracy, it seems, began to turn. Former members of the then-majority-white town council, members who had also failed to file qualifying paperwork, held what Braxton claims was an unpublicized, unlawful meeting to order a special election to fill their own seats. Only those present at the meeting knew about that decision, Braxton said, and were the only ones to “qualify” for the offices. After they “assumed office,” Braxton explained, they met again — without public notice — and appointed Stokes as mayor.

Now, nearly three years into his term, Braxton is still unable to discharge the duties of his office. In a federal civil rights lawsuit, Braxton claims that since he became mayor of Newbern, former Mayor Stokes and others have participated in an illegal conspiracy to prevent him from “governing the affairs of the town” simply because of his race. That conspiracy, Braxton argues, violates federal law and the U.S. Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause.

"For 60 years the Town of Newbern, Alabama, a one square mile town, has not held elections,” lawyers for Stokes wrote in a court filing. “The title of Mayor has simply been passed from individual to individual to anyone who would agree to be Mayor without regard to elections. Mayor Stokes became the Mayor of the Town of Newbern in this manner.”

Thousands of Reddit communities are still dark in protest of the API changes that are forcing some third-party developers to shut down their apps. It’s a startling change for many members of the Reddit community, but it’s one that Reddit CEO Steve Huffman tells The Verge that he’s fine with making. Those third-party apps, in his eyes, aren’t adding much value to the platform.

“So the vast majority of the uses of the API — not [third-party apps like Apollo for Reddit] — the other 98 percent of them, make tools, bots, enhancements to Reddit. That’s what the API is for,” Huffman says. “It was never designed to support third-party apps.” According to Huffman, he “let it exist,” and “I should take the blame for that because I was the guy arguing for that for a long time.”

Huffman now takes issue with the third-party apps that are building a business on top of his own. “I didn’t know — and this is my fault — the extent that they were profiting off of our API. That these were not charities.”

I asked him if he felt that Apollo, rif for Reddit, and Sync, which all plan to shut down as a result of the pricing changes, don’t add value to Reddit. “Not as much as they take,” he says. “No way.”

I also asked if Huffman truly believes that the blackouts haven’t impacted his decision-making around the API pricing changes at all. “In this case? That’s true,” says Huffman. “That’s our business decision, and we’re not undoing that business decision.”

We’ll have more from our interview with Huffman soon.

While the company does “respect the community’s right to protest” and pledges that it won’t force communities to reopen, Reddit also suggests there’s no need for that; more than 80 percent of the top 5,000 communities by daily active users are now open, according to a fact sheet shared by the company on Thursday. In the fact sheet, Reddit writes that there are more than 100,000 “active communities,” that the company sees 57 million “daily active uniques,” and that there are more than 50,000 daily active moderators.

Reddit users have been in revolt after Apollo for Reddit developer Christian Selig revealed at the end of May that he’d be on the hook for $20 million per year under Reddit’s new terms. At the height of the protests last week, more than 8,000 subreddits had gone dark, and even though the protests were only supposed to last from June 12th to June 14th, many have extended their blackouts.

There are some cases focused around accessibility where Reddit has made exceptions to allow apps to continue operating. “The ones that actually are doing good for our users — RedReader, Dystopia, Luna — like actually adding real value at their own cost? We’ve exempted,” Huffman says. “We’ll carry that cost.”

Despite the rise in theft, Loblaws saw 6% revenue growth last quarter compared to 3% in Q1 2022.
Loblaws is price gouging. They deliver essential product at luxury prices on a monopolistic scale in many neighbourhoods. They do this by design; they know that people have no other reasonable choices, and they know that people will need to buy food eventually.
In October it was reported that 20% of Canadians are skipping meals to cut down on food costs. Meanwhile Galen Weston has received 136% increase in direct wages over the last two years.
Meanwhile, I don't know about other warehouses, but next year Loblaws will be shutting down their Cambridge, ON Warehouse to open a new, fully automated one closer to Toronto. All those warehouse workers are going to lose their jobs for the sake of automation.

In summary: Loblaws is making more. Their executive staff is making more. Yet they're raising their prices along with it. People need to eat, and if you cannot afford to eat, you should steal. Food is not optional and I will die before telling someone else to die because they're too poor to eat. Loblaws is celebrating their victory over our wallets as we merely try to survive.

I know it sends notification of the report, reason, post, w/e to mods, but is it to just community mods, or also your instance mods and/or the community's instance mods and/or the reported person's instances mods?

Okay, so I followed some guides starting with this one that uses CLI but then ended up roughly-following this Docker guide. I'm running Ubuntu so I had to figure some things myself.

My SSL settings are set to encryption mode full, my tunnel settings are as follows

My Owncast server is set up to 30050 and I can even connect fine through external IP, but Cloudflare's not cooperating. When I connect via my hostname, I get a 502 error, and on the server side I get the following errors:

ERR error="Unable to reach the origin service. The service may be down or it may not be responding to traffic from cloudflared: dial tcp 127.0.0.1:30050: connect: connection refused" cfRay=7d6fe3954bcd5419-YYZ event=1 ingressRule=0 originService=http://127.0.0.1:30050/
ERR Request failed error="Unable to reach the origin service. The service may be down or it may not be responding to traffic from cloudflared: dial tcp 127.0.0.1:30050: connect: connection refused" connIndex=1 dest=https://live.ramram.ink/favicon.ico event=0 ip=198.41.192.7 type=http

I also confirmed that on the local machine, running curl 127.0.0.1:30050 works fine.
