Pretty disappointed that Duskbloods didn't make an appearance. The direct was mostly more anime games and ports, I was hoping for more.

And apparently the Switch 2 of Skyrim sucks haha, not sure if that ever got fixed

I was there... 3000 years ago...

When I was younger, a friend passed me a copy of Demon's Souls for the PS3 when it came out in Europe. He said this game sucks and that I can keep it for now. This was before this franchise had any popularity at all, I didn't even know anything about it before playing aside from what's on the back cover.

Played it, hated it because I had no idea where to go or what to do. Gave it a try a month later and it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time. Been a day-one fan for the whole franchise since then. By comparison to everybody else, it's wild how coincidental my introduction to Souls was.

I feel like that goes against their whole message with Steam hardware though. The Steam Machine is advertised as a plug-and-play console alternative that needs zero effort on the user's part, if they sell versions of it without components it would quickly start gaining notoriety for being for tinkerer's and linux nerds instead of the average person.

Oh nice. FF3 amd FF4 are the weird 3D remakes though, not the original ones. I remember playing one of these on mobile long ago, I wasn't aware a PC version even existed.

Really interesting video that I found on my feed. I usually pivot to a flush build for my gold stake runs but according to this video, pairs are actually more consistent (especially in higher stakes where you have less discards/money).

Wish I knew all this before doing half the gold stakes...

Isn't most of that from consoles and mobile?

[-] popcar2@piefed.ca 46 points 4 days ago

Because Steam is the world's biggest games store on PC while Epic is statistically insignificant. What's the question?

[-] popcar2@piefed.ca 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Oof. I remember my friend hyping it up when the Kickstarter launched in 2017... I'm aching for a new MMORPG but it's so unfortunate all the new ones either come out half-baked or flop completely.

I hate to break it to you but... It's been over 20 years. It's more retro now than the SNES was when the 360 came out.

Update 3 is already in the works, and we are planning a longer pre-release period to give modders and servers time to catch up and update. As more and more modders and servers create content, we want to make our updates more predictable to maintain stability across the ecosystem.

Absolute insanity. To think this was done one week after the game came out, and without any official documentation yet.

Alright I know people rag on Epic all the time... but it's truly incredible how hard they keep dropping the ball. It's been SEVEN YEARS since it was created and it still feels so basic and terrible to use.

The store is drab and uses huge chunks of space just to advertise fortnite and f2p rewards. Discovery is terrible and the store is full of crypto scams and AI spam shovelware, which is ironic because Epic started off being very selective about what's allowed to be published there. The store also feels like adware because it keeps spamming random notifications and ads unless you turn it off.

The best part is that Epic constantly blames users for not wanting to leave Steam instead of admitting their store sucks. They keep spending tens of millions buying exclusives and giving away games for free rather than spending any time improving the store. Seriously, what are they doing over there?

There's !nomanssky@lemmy.world but it's not super active. You're bound to find some fans in the general gaming communities like this one though.

I’m new to Lemmy BTW.

Welcome!

For what it's worth most people are more mad that E33 won best indie and best debut indie. It's not an indie game, many people have said as much and it's completely unfair that they won in categories meant for small budget games by small teams.

Totally deserved in other categories, but that does leave a bad taste in my mouth.
