It's the model of companies/China running at a loss until you squeeze out any viable competitors then once you've captured the market increase price and/or enshittify your product.
I think the point was more along the lines of "what if the person you're reporting on always looks bad, do you need to go out of your way to achieve 'balance?'"

I hope I'm aware of at least 3/4's of the levels of wrongness. We're pretty influenced by American culture but still have our own identity. It seems to be fading a bit with time but I remember travelling to the US and thinking why is the yogurt so sweet? Why is the bread sweet?
MS bought it and is folding it into their "AI" division

There's Glacier on the US side and Waterton in Canada that are ajacent to each other. There were hiking trails that cross the border when I was there in 2009.
