I am not sure whether I should be impressed or concerned by this amount of thought, detail and analysis.

Anything you're not telling us?

Wow. Whoever thought this one up... I find it funnier than I should.

Have one of these: 🍪

"Falling in love" and "love" are quite different from each other.

That said, yeah, the feeling can be quite fleeting. Being a chemical response doesn't make it less intense or even less meaningful, though. Sadly? Fortunately? 🤷‍♂️

A number of tells. Here's my shortlist.

  • Missing work, school, or other important obligations. Basically neglecting responsibilities.
  • Preferring online interactions over face-to-face ones. On the phone all the time, even when with people.
  • Anxious, irritable, or depressed when not online
  • Losing track of time while online.
  • Sleep deprived.
  • Not sure how to answer when asked how much they're online

Don't ask how I know...

Nice. Just logged in to see myself. What are possible use cases for this?

No. I totally support an indie dev advertising their hard work here.

Yes. :)

Wait... no. :-o

I am not sure anymore. ( • - • ) ...

Always good to see evidence of us being governed by wise, self-controlled people who only have the good of the population at heart. 🤗

Balancing multiple interests and projects is not easy. Seems to me you need some balance.

Just some ideas that help me get stuff done.

Prioritizing. Identify which project or task is most urgent or important to you right now. Focus on that one first before moving on to the next.

Realistic Goals. Break down your larger projects into smaller, manageable tasks. This can make them feel less daunting and help you make more steady progress instead of leaving them entirely. Also be realistic in how many projects you can handle.

Scheduling. Allocate/schedule specific time blocks for each activity. For example, dedicate certain hours of the day to game development, writing, and leisure activities. This keeps one organised and helps progress on all fronts.

Limit Distractions. If you're easily distracted, fix that. Minimize interruptions during your dedicated work times. Stay focused.

Otherwise take regular breaks, don't expect perfection of yourself and share your tasks with someone to help you stay balanced.

If it's extreme, consider getting professional support. No shame in that. Quite the opposite.

What do you think?

PeerTube is fantastic with its decentralized model that prioritizes user privacy and control. However, it still struggles to gain widespread popularity.

What do you think could be done to enhance PeerTube's appeal and functionality, possibly even becoming a serious alternative to YouTube?

I would like the Firefox profile manager to open when I run Firefox from the GNOME 3 menu, be it the DashBar or the native menu. I installed Firefox using Flatpak.

I know that I can run it from the terminal with flatpak run org.mozilla.firefox -p. But how do I modify the .desktop file? I guess it is the one in /var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/applications/org.mozilla.firefox.desktop? I tried replacing the line

[Desktop Entry]
Exec=/usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=firefox --file-forwarding org.mozilla.firefox @@u %u @@

with

[Desktop Entry]
Exec=/usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=firefox org.mozilla.firefox --ProfileManager

but I cannot save the document because of "too many symbolic links".

What is the secret?

I really wish Firefox would simply offer this as an option in its settings.

World hits 12 straight months of record-high temperatures — but as warming continues, it'll be "remembered as comparatively cold"

With worrying global trends like climate change, pollution, increasingly divided or radical governments, economic woes, misinformation and disinformation everywhere, dangerous health crises and so on, what do you think - how much time do we have before "it all comes crashing down"? What will end life or our way of life as we know it first?

Or do you think we'll make it? If so, how?

It's in the eye of the beholder, of course. But it would be great to see some solid recommendations.

... as explained here.

Basically Microsoft presents this "incredible" product, and then says in the same breath: "Oops, not for your current setup. Maybe you should consider buying a new PC?"

Really!? 😠

If only Linux were ready for mainstream use...

On Windows, installing I2P is easy.

On Linux... not so much. That's because Linux isn't Linux. There's a Debian package, but OpenSuse is its own thing. Is there a way to get I2P, Snark, etc. up and running there without having to jump through too many hoops?
