Yeah, I was reading some posts about that. Fortunately I had work so I happened to not be online when all that was going on. Extremely unfortunate, but you do what you gotta do. Hopefully the assholes that did that get the boot and worse.

I think all of these are great requests and I'm glad to see you are speaking up. These are all key things that will need to happen to ensure the sustainability of the Lemmy instance. I'd hate to see the instance become too expensive to run or cause you to become burned out, so anything we can do as a community to help offset that will be immensely beneficial. I encourage anyone who can contribute, whether it be financially or helping with handling the load of reports or whatever to do so.

I'll admit, when it comes to mod actions...well, I'm not exactly a people person, though I do try to be friendly enough. So in that regard, I probably wouldn't be great as an instance admin.

I do come from a technical background, running enterprise infrastructure on AWS, predominantly Linux but also handling a bunch of other stuff too. Happy to help out in that regard should you have issues recruiting people into the role, or even just to help field technical questions on optimizing for cost or performance or whatever.

Also, huge props for pushing for transparency in how the instance is run, funded and all that. I think that will be helpful for building a sense of trust and community on our instance.

I mean, I could have just offered myself up to be corrupted by these "immoral" instruments. If they didn't want the instruments around, they could have let me take them.

I have to wonder what is going through their heads to think this would be in any way helpful to their cause. It's literally saying "hey I'm screwing you out of money in the name of Trump."

I'm not as familiar with Itch but it works the same as GOG in that you can download the installer and keep it, no special activations or DRM required. Right? Because I definitely love that aspect of GOG. I just wish it had a larger library.

That’s where I’m at. I use it regularly for learning new things and for entertainment, so I don’t mind paying for it, and getting rid of ads while supporting creators is perfectly fine with me.

I ran PowerDeleteSuite a week or two ago initially, and since then I’ve seen the occasional post or comment reappear every few days. That seems to have stopped now for me though.

I’m genuinely curious what the cause is, especially since I had them overwritten before deleting, and they would still come back to the unedited content.
