In most cases I would not buy a device that is already out of support. The 2015 MacBook has not been able to get updates for a while now. I think it is stuck at macOS 12 and the current version is 14. So the M1 Air would be my pick here for both security and longevity of the device.

I joined the club yesterday too! 13 inch M2 Air 16GB with 512 SSD. First macOS I've owned but I became the Mac admin at my job and have been working with them and Jamf at work a lot the last few months.

I didn't plan on getting 512GB since I still have my primary desktop and a Lenovo Legion laptop for large tasks. I wanted the Macbook for lighter work from the couch and traveling. But when I went to pick up my order from Microcenter they didn't have the laptop I had reserved so they offered me the 512GB for $50 more than the one I reserved which I though was a great deal.
